Surgeries and Treatments

Urgent and Emergent General Orthopedic Care

This service involves the immediate assessment and stabilization of acute musculoskeletal injuries. It is utilized for sudden trauma such as closed fractures, severe ligament sprains, muscle tears, and joint dislocations. Treatment typically includes diagnostic imaging, joint reduction, or the application of casts and splints to prevent further tissue damage and manage acute swelling following an injury.

Hand and Wrist Surgery

Hand and wrist surgery refers to procedures performed to repair the bones, tendons, nerves, and ligaments of the upper extremity. These surgeries are commonly used to treat conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome (nerve compression), trigger finger, distal radius fractures, and scaphoid breaks. It also addresses chronic structural issues like basal thumb arthritis or ganglion cysts that restrict the range of motion in the hand and wrist.

Hip Arthroplasty (Hip Replacement)

Hip arthroplasty is a surgical procedure in which the femoral head and the acetabulum (hip socket) are replaced with artificial components. This treatment is used for end-stage joint degeneration, typically caused by osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or osteonecrosis. It is performed when the cartilage has worn down to the point of bone-on-bone contact, resulting in persistent groin pain, a shortened leg appearance, or a significant loss of internal rotation in the hip.

Knee Arthroplasty (Knee Replacement)

Total or partial knee arthroplasty involves resurfacing the femoral and tibial surfaces of the knee joint with metal and plastic implants. This procedure addresses severe joint destruction characterized by mechanical misalignment (bow-legged or knock-kneed), chronic swelling, and the loss of joint space. It is used when the knee joint can no longer support the body’s weight without significant structural pain or instability during movement.

nSTRIDE Knee Injections

nSTRIDE is an autologous protein solution (APS) processed from the patient’s own blood and injected into the knee joint. The solution contains high concentrations of anti-inflammatory cytokines and anabolic growth factors. It is used to manage the inflammatory environment of a joint affected by mild to moderate osteoarthritis, targeting the proteins that cause cartilage degradation and joint fluid thinning.

Non-Surgical Treatment of Hip and Knee Arthritis

This approach focuses on the mechanical and chemical management of joint wear without invasive surgery. It involves the use of corticosteroid or hyaluronic acid injections to reduce intra-articular inflammation, as well as prescribed physical therapy to strengthen the supporting musculature of the joint. These treatments are used to manage symptoms like morning stiffness, decreased mobility, and joint “locking” associated with early to mid-stage arthritis.

Knee Arthroscopy

Knee arthroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure where a small camera and instruments are inserted through minor incisions to treat internal joint issues. It is used for the debridement or repair of torn meniscal cartilage, the removal of loose bone or cartilage fragments (loose bodies), and the reconstruction of ligaments such as the ACL. This procedure addresses mechanical symptoms like “catching,” “clicking,” or the knee giving way during activity.
